The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report July 2017

Total number of listed companies on the main market amounted to 222 at the end of July 2017. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex reached 32 at the end of the month.

No companies were listed this month.

Total number of trading days in July 2017 amounted to 21 days, with a total value traded of US$ 1,092.45 million (LE 19,540.08 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,045.07 million (LE 18,692.71 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 90.12%, 9.88% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 44.86 million (LE 802.35 million), which represents 4.11% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 1.49 million (LE 27.00 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to June 2017, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,064.62 million (LE 19,260.18 million), of which shares represented 81.22%, bonds 18.78% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 28.57 million (LE 516.84 million), i.e. 2.61% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 1,094.68 million (LE 19,804.02 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.52 million (LE 45.02 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 6,328.74 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 55.58 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 39.51 million securities.

During July 2017, 494,074 transactions were concluded with an average of 23,527 trades per day, as opposed to 343,923 transactions were concluded with an average of 20,231 trades per day, during June 2017.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed an increase of 0.18% in July 2017, to close at 13,419.38 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 68.10%. 

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an increase of 7.72% in July 2017, to close at 699.53 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 93.48%.

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed an increase of 5.24% in July 2017, to close at 1,588.34 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 102.90%.

Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed a decrease of -3.15% in July 2017, to close at 11,937.31 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 44.16%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an increase of 0.33% in July 2017, to close at 2,847.79 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 65.12%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a decrease of -0.47% in July 2017, to close at 1,934.24 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 79.95%.

Furthermore, the EGX50 EWI index witnessed a decrease of -0.01% in July 2017, to close at 2,076.07 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 50.99%.

From another perspective, Nile index witnessed an increase of 0.28% in July 2017, to close at 511.5 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of -19.55%.

The ten most active stocks in the main market represented 81.88% of total traded shares' volume and 47.75% of total traded shares' value for this month.

During the month of July the top five gainers, in the main market, were (in descending order of price change) Suez Bags (127.93%), Egypt Aluminum (94.12%), Asek Company for Mining - Ascom (92.08%), Misr Conditioning (Miraco) (74.12%) and Arab Aluminum (64.91%).

The top five losers, in the main market, were (in ascending order of price change) Raya Contact Center (-21.41%), Ezz Steel (-18.13%), Misr Chemical Industries (-16.99%), TransOceans Tours (-16.67%) and Remco for Touristic Villages Construction (-15.48%).

Total market capitalization of shares in the main market amounted to US$ 39.45 billion (LE 705.63 billion), as of end of July 2017 compared to US$ 38.00 billion (LE 687.42 billion) in June 2017, representing an increase of 2.65%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 65.12 million (LE 1.16 billion) at the end of July 2017.

In July 2017, foreign investors participated with 26.22% of the value traded of the main market, with a net outflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 0.22 million (LE 3.97 million).
