The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Monthly Statistical Report July 2014

Total number of listed companies on the main market amounted to 216 at the end of July 2014. Meanwhile, the number of listed companies on Nilex reached 24 at the end of the month.

No companies were listed this month.

Total number of trading days in July 2014 amounted to 18 days, with a total value traded of US$ 2,418 million (LE 17,264 million).

Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 2,283 million (LE 16,304 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 62.38%, 37.62% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 131 million (LE 936 million), which represents 5.42% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3 million (LE 24 million) during the month.

This is in comparison to June 2014, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 4,114 million (LE 29,372 million.), of which shares represented 61.58%, bonds 38.42%  and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 1,742 million (LE 12,439 million), i.e. 29.71% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 5,863 million (LE 41,863 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 7 million (LE 51 million) during the month.

Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 2,490.19 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 29.17 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 15.74 million securities.

During July 2014, 337,511 transactions were concluded with an average of 18,751 trades per day, as opposed to 541,087 transactions were concluded with an average of 25,766 trades per day, during June 2014.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed an increase of 8.14% in July 2014, to close at 8826.28 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 65.76% 

Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed an increase of 6.27% in July 2014, to close at 628.22 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 46.73%

Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed an increase of 7.20% in July 2014, to close at 1108.77 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 51.79%.

Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed an increase of 6.54% in July 2014, to close at 10515.58 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 69.32%.

Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an increase of 8.96% in July 2014, to close at 1856.61 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 57.02%.

On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed an increase of 5.15% in July 2014, to close at 1695.6 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 98.44%.

From another perspective, Nile index witnessed an increase of 4.85% in July 2014, to close at 800.89 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 6.66%.

The ten most active stocks in the main market represented 77.28% of total traded shares' volume and 59.79% of total traded shares' value for this month.

During the month of July, the top five gainers, on the main market, were (in descending order of price change) Pyramisa Hotels (46.73%), GMC Group For Industrial Commercial & Financial Investments (44.37%), General Company For Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction (39.74%), Egyptians Housing Development & Reconstruction (34.58%) and Ismailia Development and Real Estate Co. (34.26%)

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) The Arab Dairy Products Co. Arab Dairy (-10%), Arab Ceramics (Aracemco) (-9.48%), National Housing for Professional Syndicates (-9.23%), Golden Pyramids Plaza (-8.72%) and Lecico Egypt (-7.3%).

Total market capitalization of shares in the main market amounted to US$ 70.18 billion (LE 501.06 billion), as of end of July 2014 compared to US$ 66.90 billion (LE 477.64 billion) in June 2014, representing an increase of 4.9%. Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 147.12 million (LE 1.05 billion) at the end of July 2014.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 217.95 million (LE 1.56 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 63.93 billion (LE 456.44 billion) for government bonds at the end of July 2014 (Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System). Meanwhile, the market capitalization of the Public Juristic Entities bonds amounted to US$ 700.27 million (LE 5 billion) at the end of July 2014.

In July 2014, foreign investors participated with 14.97% of the value traded of the main market, with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 158.08 million (LE 1.13 billion).
