The Copenhagen Stock Exchange Equity Market Buzzes With Activity

In March 2000, share trading amounted to a record DKK 85 billion, up 32 per cent on February, which was the previous peak month. The average daily value of trading was DKK 3.5 billion, a 21 per cent rise on February 2000 and a 108 per cent rise on the same month last year.

The volume of transactions is growing steadily. In July, August and September 1999, the number of transactions amounted to some 100,000 per month. In October, when the turnover tax on share transactions was removed, the number of transactions rose to 122,000. The bustling activity in the equity market continued and in March the number of share transactions peaked with just under 319,000.
