The 9th China Securities Regulatory Commission International Advisory Council Meeting Was Held In Beijing

The 9th International Advisory Council (IAC) Meeting of China Securities Regulatory Commission was held on 14th September in Beijing. In this meeting, the IAC members made in-depth discussion centered on topics including the development and supervision of bond markets, opening-up and regulation of derivatives markets and how to develop a multi-tiered capital market system in China. The members spoke highly of progresses and efforts that CSRC has made on the above-mentioned areas, especially the reform launched by CSRC under the framework of twelfth five-year plan in facilitating economic transformation and optimizing market function in resource allocation. The members also offered many conductive suggestions and advises related to further reform and opening-up of China's capital markets.

Mr. GUO Shuqing, Chairman of CSRC attended this meeting. In his opening remarks, Chairman GUO paid tribute to IAC members for the support they have been giving to China's capital markets. Sir. Howard DAVIES, Chair of the IAC, Mrs. Laura CHA, Vice-chair of the IAC, Mr. Andrew SHENG and Mr. Anthony NEOH were moderators for each session of discussion. Other attendees to the meeting include Vice-Chairmen of CSRC, Mr. YAO Gang, Mr. LIU Xinua and Mr. JIANG Yang as well as representatives from CSRC, exchanges and SROs.

The IAC was established in 2004 under approval of the State Council. As the advisory arm of CSRC, it consists of former regulators, financial experts, industrial practitioners and academics. The Council holds assembly meeting once every year. 20 members from different countries and regions like US, UK, France, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei participated in this year's discussion.
