President of the mai, Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich, said that the 26 mai-listed firms have already submitted their financial statements for H1/2005. They collectively posted a total of THB551 mln. (approx. USD13.44 mln.) in net profits, equivalent to an 18% year-on-year rise from the THB467 mln. in H1/2004. There were 15 companies reporting an increase in profits. As for sales growth, mai-listed firms have experienced approximately a 28% sales increase overall, jumping from THB6.77 bln. in H1/2004 to THB8.68 bln. in H1/2005.
“The operational results of mai-listed companies turned out to be in accordance with our past surveys. Our surveys were conducted to provide investors with additional essential information to help them gain more confidence in the market amidst changing economic conditions.
Mr. Vichate added, “Although the majority of the mai-listed companies had improved results, there were still 11 companies having declines in their profits when compared to H1/2004. As a result, the average growth of all 26 companies was brought down to only 18%. Investors are advised to study research reports or consult with their brokers before making investment decisions.”
