The President of the Thailand Securities Depository, Nongram Wongwanich, said after promoting Media Clearing, a large number of investors have shown interest in the service, particularly at this time when companies are paying dividends. The service is popular because shareholders can save time, and it is very convenient. Investors will no longer have to deal with dividend payments in the form of checks, which can be delayed, damaged, destroyed, or lost in the mail, nor would they have to waste time depositing checks, which can take up to 5-7 days to clear. Media Clearing allows dividends and interest to be paid directly into the shareholder's bank account.
Mrs. Nongram said, "Currently, there are 134 companies which have already joined the Media Clearing service. During the dividend payment season, 86 companies used the service, while 85,000 shareholders registered to have their dividends transferred directly into their bank accounts. With this service, provincial shareholders do not need to pay high transaction fees when cashing cross-province dividend checks. Shareholders will receive a letter informing them that their dividends have been transferred to their bank accounts, and they will also receive a withholding tax certificate. The cost of the added convenience is only THB10 for every transaction. Other shareholders not taking advantage of the service are invited to register for it to save time and enjoy its convenience."
To be register for the service, shareholders can simply download the registration form from www.tsd.co.th or get a form from the TSD. After filling out the form, they send it back, along with a copy of their ID card and a copy of their bank account passbook, to the Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd., 62 Ratchadapisek Road, Klongtoei, Bangkok 10110 or submit it to the listed company in which they hold shares.
Those interested in the Media Clearing service can check to see if the companies in which they hold shares are registered for the service or obtain additional information at www.tsd.co.th.
