Managing Director of the TFEX Ms. Kesara Manchusree said that TFEX spoke in the Futures Industry Association (FIA) Asia Derivatives Conference on August 9 – 11, 2005, in Beijing, PRC. This was a major gathering of operators in the world’s derivatives markets, including regulators, brokers and system developers. About 300 participants from the U.S.A., Europe, and Asia attended.
“We were invited to talk at the seminar representing a new market in Asia, which was a valuable opportunity to promote our market and products. We also had the opportunity to discuss with foreign brokers about our clearinghouse and SET50 Index Futures. After the discussions, we felt confident that the SET50 Index Futures will be attractive to foreign investors, either for trading or risk management purposes,” Ms. Kesara said.
The FIA held activities and seminars in America and Europe to provide opportunities for its members to share information and participate in discussions. This year the FIA celebrated its 30th anniversary and for the first time held the FIA Asia Derivatives Forum, in part due to the emerging role and importance of derivatives in Asia.
Participating in the FIA Conference is TFEX’s first marketing move into international markets. It will also join the ‘Derivatives and Securities World’ conference coming up in Singapore on October 11 – 12, 2005, hosted by FOW Magazine. The event will be an opportunity for TFEX to promote and market its product to over 1,000 practitioners in the regional derivatives business as well as interested investors.
