Thai Listed Firms Post 8% Collective Rise In 2005 Dividend Payouts

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announced today that as of March 1, 2006, 216 listed companies, or around 50% of all listed companies (excluding those in REHABCO), had declared their dividend payments for 2005, collectively worth THB 161.68 billion. This amount is a 7.95% year-on-year rise, and represents a 4.00% average dividend yield.

The top five industries with the highest dividend payouts are Resources, Property & Construction, Technology, Financials, and Services.

The Resources group will pay total dividends of THB 45.542 billion, which is the highest group amount paid out in 2005. PTT Plc reported the biggest net profits, and will pay dividends of THB25.875 billion, or THB9.25 per share. This represents a 3.67 dividend yield.

The Property & Construction group will pay out dividends of THB31.236 billion, with Siam Cement (SCC) paying out the most, worth THB18 billion, or THB 15.00 per share. Its dividend yield is 6.15%.

The Technology group is with the third highest dividend payer, with THB28.164 billion. Advanced Info Service (ADVANC) will pay the most, at THB18.852 billion, or THB6.30 per share.This represents a 6.49% dividend yield.

The Financials group is the sector with the fourth highest dividend payout of THB19.191 billion. Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) will pay the most, at THB5.645 billion, or THB3.00 per share. Its dividend yield is 4.62%.

The Services group will pay out the fifth highest amount of dividends at THB17.785 billion. Thai Airways International (THAI) will pay the most, at THB2.548 billion, or THB 1.50 per share. This represents a 3.47% dividend yield.

The five industry groups having the highest dividend yields are the:

  1. Industrials group, with a dividend yield of 5.60%
  2. Agro & Food Industry group, with a dividend yield of 5.25%
  3. Technology group, with a dividend yield of 5.19%
  4. Property & Construction group, with a dividend yield of 4.62%
  5. Service group, with a dividend yield of 4.33%
