The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with Phatra Securities pcl and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will hold “Thailand Focus 2012” during August 29-31 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok, under the theme, “Positioning Thailand for the Next Growth Phase,” to present Thailand’s growth opportunities and strengths of Thai listed companies to investors around the globe.
Thailand Focus is the largest investment seminar on Thailand, which this year marks its sixth annual event. The event will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong who will also give a keynote speech on Thailand’s transformation.
The event will highlight investment opportunities for foreign investors, whose trading values currently account for a quarter of SET’s trading value. Top executives from the Thai capital market, policy makers, and executives of more than 90 listed companies will participate to present their views on Thailand’s outlook, potential, and business opportunities.
SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira said: “Thailand Focus is a great opportunity for foreign investors to gain exciting insights of Thai companies. This year will be the first time that stock exchanges and listed companies from Indochina countries will be present. Top executives of exchanges and listed companies from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam will meet with Thai and foreign institutional investors, share their profiles, and highlight their growth potential.”
Phatra Capital’s CEO Aphinant Klewpatinond said: “We are greatly honored that SET again entrusts Phatra to co-host Thailand Focus. The conference this year could not be more timely and interesting, as a number of prominent speakers, leaders, and foreign investors will gather to share their views. We believe that an important issue for Thailand now is how to position for the next growth phase for long-term competitiveness. Plausibly, it would require new initiatives beyond policy support, concerted cooperation and right execution of all parties for the country to be well positioned for the future challenges.”
Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Chairman Asia Pacific Brian J. Brille, said: “There remains significant international interest in the ongoing Thai economic story. Thailand is viewed as a healthy and stable economy in an increasingly challenging global environment. The country offers a compelling story market, liquidity and a healthy mix of industries, positioning the country at the forefront of the dynamic growth and development of the ASEAN region. Bank of America Merrill Lynch is again delighted to be partnering the Stock Exchange of Thailand and Phatra Securities in the premier investor conference for Thailand.”
“Thailand Focus 2012: Positioning Thailand in the Next Growth Phase” is one of SET’s activities to match the right financial opportunities for institutional investors around the world and boost capital market opportunities for Thai listed companies.
