Thai Bourse To Promote Brokerage Firms’ Full Range Of Services

Date 03/05/2011

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and 26 brokerages are launching the “Broker Wealth Services” campaign to encourage existing and new investors to use brokerages’ full range of services. The campaign will help expand investment coverage and support brokerages in offering more business lines by promoting the firms’ images via media and activities throughout the year.

“According to 2008 Investor Survey, investors wanted to see service development and improvement provided by securities companies in terms of information, analysis, investment advice, and other services. Moreover, results from the survey on www.settrade.com showed that as high as 42% of investors thought that securities companies only provided transaction services for equities and derivatives. In fact, securities companies offer full services on different financial products, including equities, derivatives, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds and bonds. In addition, securities companies provide investment advice, securities borrowing and lending business, and on-line service, e.g., Internet trading,” said SET Chief Marketing Officer Pakorn Peetathawatchai.

“Broker Wealth Services will promote various products and services of securities firms via different media, e.g., newspapers, magazines, newsletters, leaflets, scoops, and on-line media. The campaign will be in two phases: phase 1, from April through June, with the messages focusing on securities firms’ full range of financial products, and phase 2, from July through September, with messages focusing on building wealth by using various investment services. Moreover, the SET will hold activities in the Money Expo, SET in the City, and a major seminar in July. These activities will help new or existing clients conveniently use securities companies’ services,” added Mr. Pakorn.
