Thai Bourse Promotes Investment In Northeastern City

Date 17/08/2011

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) continues to encourage investment by joining in the Money Expo for Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, on August 19-21, to educate and inform the public about investment options.

The SET will introduce its "Investor Zone" under the concept of "Opening the senses to new investment options" with eight brokerages joining hands to advise on investment diversification using financial products such as stocks, derivatives, gold futures and mutual funds, with efficiency.

"We see the investment potential of people in Korat and nearby provinces, and have arranged events and activities continuously to help them access knowledge and financial products. This also increases people's opportunities to find investment options best suited to them," said SET Chief Marketing Officer Pakorn Peetathawatchai.

Nakhon Ratchasima is the top province in Thailand's northeast in terms of savings and investment, with average securities trading volume of THB 5.63 billion (approx. USD 188 million) per month during January-July, 2011. That represents 32 percent of the northeastern part's trading volume. There are eight broker firms with 11 branches in the province, Pakorn added.

Visitors to Money Expo Korat 2011 will be introduced to online investment and the very popular online stock-derivatives contest "SET-TFEX Click2WIN 2011". They will also be informed about the "Four Recommended Stock Recipes" which are stocks especially benefitting from government policies, stocks with low P/Es and particularly promising futures, stocks with constantly good performance and stocks with consistently high dividends. Visitors can also obtain derivatives guides and "stock best pick" lists.

The Money Expo rotates to major cities nationwide; the Korat event is the third this year, after Songkhla and Bangkok. The Korat activity will be held at The Mall Department Store, Nakhon Ratchasima. The fourth and last event of this year will be on November 18-20 at CentralPlaza Chiangmai Airport.
