Thai Bourse Lists T-Bills & Central Bank Bonds Feb. 20 & 21

Thailand’s Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX) approved the listing of 3 tranches of treasury bills (T-bills) and one tranche of Bank of Thailand (BOT) bonds, collectively worth THB33 billion (approx. USD835.4 million). These bonds, issued in February 2006, will commence trading on February 20 and 21, 2006, respectively.

The three tranches of treasury bills all have less than a 6 month maturity, carry no interest, and are short-term bonds of the Ministry of Finance. These bonds will commence trading on the BEX February 20, 2006. Their features are as follows:

  1. TB06322C: A 28-day bond worth THB5 billion, due on March 22, 2006.
  2. TB06524B: A 91-day bond worth THB7 billion, due on May 24, 2006.
  3. TB06823A: A 182-day bond worth THB7 billion, due on August 23, 2006.
The BOT bonds no. 49/4/264D are worth THB14 billion. They will use CB07222A as their trading symbol, have a 364-day maturity and come due on February 22, 2007.

With the listing of these treasury bills and BOT bonds, the total outstanding value of all bonds on the BEX will be increased to THB2.712 trillion.

All of the above new listings are short-term notes having no more than 1-year maturity, and more of this type of bonds will be listed on the BEX.
