The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) continues to support organizations and persons seeking to benefit society by holding an annual award ceremony “The Social Recognition Project 2011”. The SET Foundation will grant THB 12 million (approx. USD 399,068) to selected six organizations and eight persons and recognized them as role models, as one of the SET’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.
SET Chairman Sompol Kiatphaibool said that the annual project, started in 2007, has been held for five consecutive years. The awards are granted to six organizations which have benefited society continuously and are widely accepted by the general public. The SET has granted THB 2 million to each organization and they have nominated a total of eight persons who have sacrificed themselves for the common good in accordance with the organization’s ideals to receive the awards and financial support from the SET Foundation.
The six organizations granted the awards are
- The Football History Association of Thailand, for sports promotion,
- The Population and Community Development Association, for rural development,
- The Professor Sangvian Indaravijaya Foundation, for educational development,
- The Sugree Charoensook Foundation, for music promotion,
- The Thai Library Association, for library development, and
- The Vimuttayalaya Institute for urban development.
The SET realizes the importance of CSR and has incorporated social responsibility as a major part of its vision. This project aims at encourage more persons to devote themselves to do good deeds for society, which will result in upgrading quality of life for the country as a whole.
