The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will hold "Mutual Fund Fair@Central Plaza Pinklao" on September 27-30 under the campaign "Move Savings to Mutual Funds," offering more than 1,300 funds and intensive seminars to encourage investors to diversify their portfolios and boost returns via mutual funds.
The fair, co-hosted by The Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC) and 16 asset management firms, provides advices and seminars throughout four days at Central Plaza Pinklao, Bangkok.
"SET continuously encourages depositors to use mutual funds as an investment choice via organizing the fair with a concept “Move Savings to Mutual Funds” under a program “Let your money work through mutual funds.” As of June 30, 2012, there have been more than 3.2 million mutual fund accounts, an increase of 324,538 accounts since the start of this year. Moreover, investors currently have more choices of funds than ever to meet their demands regarding to expected return and risk exposure. We will offer more than 1,300 funds at the fair for investors to diversify their risks” said SET Chief Marketing Officer Pakorn Peetathawatchai.
AIMC Chairman Somjin Sornpaisarn said: "Although the global economy this year has been volatile, the Thai mutual fund industry has been actively developing, with a net asset increase of THB 286.22 billion (USD 9.29 billion) to reach THB 2,368.98 billion (USD 76.92 billion) – or a 13.74 percent growth this year as at the end of August.
“Growth has mainly come from fixed income funds, which provide regular income but might not maximize returns to investors. Other types of mutual funds, such as equity, mixed, commodity, and property funds could improve investment efficiency with a certain level of risk. The keys to effective investment are having a clear objective; investment period and acceptable level of risk, with proper asset allocation. In addition, asset management firms will use their expertise, enabling investors to meet their objectives.”
This event, the eleventh mutual fund fair, will be held at Central Plaza Pinklao and also feature professional fund managers as key speakers on investment techniques for seeking more returns than savings. Participants can also get handbooks on the “List of top funds with good performance and new IPO funds,” “DIY book: Make your portfolio to be all mutual funds,” and “RMF & LTF handbooks: Nice twins help save tax”
