Thai Bourse Further Promotes Financial Discipline Toward Sustainability And Stability

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has kicked off the of 4th “Ngern Thong Tong Wang Phan” (Money Matters Need Planning), a financial planning project, aiming to instill financial discipline among career people, while promoting financial literacy among the Thai people from all walks of life through various activities and media, underlining SET’s commitment to create long-term wealth, as such driving the country’s sustainable economic growth.

This year project is expected to reach more than 150,000 career people, from over 100 provident fund member firms, with an aim to access more than 2.7 million people across the country this year.

SET President Kesara Manchusree, said, “It has been almost two decades, since the year 2000, that SET has set out to be the center of financial literacy and investment knowledge for all Thais, especially getting well-prepared for the aging society. SET’s plan, in tandem with the government’s policy, has promoted savings discipline through social security fund, government pension fund, provident fund and national savings fund. These funds, with combined assets of over THB 9 trillion for 20 million members, are likely to be insufficient for some post-retirement living. To help all career people to be aware of financial planning, investment and retirement planning for a secure future “Ngern Thong Tong Wang Phan” Year 4 will be vital to lead a sustainable life for Thais in the future.”

For this year’s “Ngern Thong Tong Wang Phan” project, SET is collaborating with asset management companies, listed companies, government organizations and private organizations to build the discipline of savings among career people. In doing so, “Ngern Thong Tong Wang Phan” learning media have been created for distribution to various organizations, who will share them with members of provident funds throughout the country. There has also been the development of the website www.set.or.th/education, catering to all segments of all age groups.
