Thai Bourse Enhances Information Disclosure Channel

Date 01/09/2010

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has improved its electronic disclosure system to be web-based, effective this September 6. This upgrade makes it easier for listed companies in disseminating information and corporate actions that is both concise and delivered in a timely manner. The information will be both delivered in Thai and English at the same time so that all investors will have the same information simultaneously for their decision-making.

“SET Community Portal, or SCP is a web-based disclosure system that will allow firms to submit information through the Internet more conveniently and quickly. The SCP will also reduce their burden in information dissemination, as SET has provided standard templates for disclosure. These templates are concise and focus on important issues, reducing preparation time. The SCP has up-to-date templates and are in line with those of other regional exchanges. This service is provided to listed firms with no extra cost. Moreover, SET has extended the deadline for listed firms to submit information to be 22.00 hrs. of every official working day. The new SCP will be activated on September 6, 2010,” revealed SET Chief Regulatory Officer Sakkarin Ruamrangsri.

“The SCP will increase the Thai capital market’s credibility and attractiveness, and also raise the SET’s competitiveness in the regional arena,” said Mr. Sakkarin. It is a significant development over the previous text-file format, as it is now web-based, faster than before to prepare, and does not require to install additional program.

The SET has met with listed firms, brokerages, and data vendors since mid-2009 to hear their points of view, held training seminars, and tested the SCP during July – August, 2010. The testing went well. Investors can follow information of listed firms at www.set.or.th or SETSMART or call S-E-T Call Center at 0 2229 2222.
