The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s New Listing and Listed Companies Development Committee will focus its listing efforts on insurance, telecommunication, automobile and autoparts, energy and alternative energy sectors, revealed SET Chairman Sompol Kiatphaibool and Chairman of New Listing and Listed Companies Development Committee.
“The committee sees that these sectors in particular have high growth potential and will need to raise funds for this purpose. The companies will truly benefit from listing, as they can raise funds at low cost, expand business growth, and add value to the companies,” said Mr. Sompol.
Insurance firms are required to privatize within 2012 according to the Life Insurance and Non-life Insurance Act. Meanwhile, businesses in telecommunication sector show potential growth and will need more fundraising to create business opportunity. Automotive and auto parts sector also has potential growth, as Thailand is a major production base for automotive and autoparts exporter. As for businesses in energy and alternative energy sector are a major fundamental business that need more investment.
Moreover, the committee continually works with State Enterprise Policy Office in supporting state enterprise subsidiaries and businesses under government’s concession or under license to list. The Committee also encourages potential companies to apply the disclosure-based IPO scheme.
