The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has announced the semi-annual index review results for the SET50, SET100 and SETHD indices to be used in the first half of 2016 (January 1-June 30, 2016). There will be three additions to SET50 Index, 14 additions to SET100 Index and two additions to SETHD Index. In addition, SET will soon announce the constituent changes in SET 100 and SETHD as a result of the merger between Bangkok Metro Public Company Limited (BMCL) and Bangkok Expressway Public Company Limited (BECL).
SET50 Index (SET50): three companies to be added as index constituents are Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited (BLA), Siam City Cement Public Company Limited (SCCC) and Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited (TASCO), resulting in a combined market capitalization of the SET50 Index worth THB 8.35 trillion, accounting for 68 percent of the total SET’s market capitalization (as of November 30, 2015).
SET100 Index (SET100): There will be 14 additions to the index, namely Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited (BLA), Chularat Hospital Public Company Limited (CHG), Eastern Polymer Group Public Company Limited (EPG), Group Lease Public Company Limited (GL), Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), Plan B Media Public Company Limited (PLANB), The Platinum Group Public Company Limited (PLAT), PTG Energy Public Company Limited (PTG), Samart Telcoms Public Company Limited (SAMTEL), Siam City Cement Public Company Limited (SCCC), Scan Inter Public Company Limited (SCN), Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited (TASCO), Vanachai Group Public Company Limited (VNG) and Workpoint Entertainment Public Company Limited (WORK), resulting in a combined market capitalization of the SET100 Index worth THB 9.49 trillion, accounting for 77 percent of the total SET’s market capitalization (as of November 30, 2015).
SET High Dividend 30 Index (SETHD): 2 companies will be added to the index, consisting of Siam City Cement Public Company Limited (SCCC) and Samart Telcoms Public Company Limited (SAMTEL), resulting in an average dividend yield of the SETHD of 4.57 percent, higher than SET’s average dividend yield of 2.43 percent (between September and November 2015).
For the merger between BECL and BMCL which are the constituents in SET100 Index and SETHD Index, the new company was to be formed as a result of the cabinet’s resolution on December 8, 2015, expecting to be registered with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, on December 30, 2015. BMCL and BECL will then be terminated as listed companies, and the new company‘s first trading date will be on January 5, 2016. Therefore, SET will change the constituents following the Ground Rules for SET Index Series in such a way that the new company will be added into SET100 Index replacing BMCL and BECL, and into SETHD Index replacing BECL. As such, one reserve list will be filled in the vacancy in SET100 Index. In line with this, SET will notify the public of the change in the constituent again later.
