Thai Bourse Appoints Executives To Enhance Regional Competitiveness

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has strengthened its executive team after restructuring to support all groups of customers. Mr. Pakorn Peetathawatchai will be SET Chief Marketing Officer, effective October 1, and Mr. Bordin Unakul will be SET Executive Vice President, Post-Trade Services & Development, effective November 1, 2010. SET will more fully support customers’ needs, create more products, increase liquidity to match that of leading exchanges, thus increasing business opportunities and enhancing SET’s potential to compete internationally.

“To ensure that SET can fully satisfy all customers, SET has restructured its organization by analyzing the needs of all key customer groups, whether investors, listed and member companies, and SET customers, and then providing teams to support them. This restructuring will increase our business opportunities, as global exchanges are currently in high competition,” revealed SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.

“These new executives are both experienced in the highly-competitive financial markets. They will thus strengthen the current SET executive team, which specializes in securities, so that together SET can fully satisfy all customers,” said Mr. Charamporn.

Mr. Pakorn will oversee Products Business & Development, e.g., equities, bonds, derivatives, and other new products with high potential revenue that can also fill the needs of both domestic and overseas investors. He will also supervise Customer & Channel, overseeing retail investors, domestic and international institutional investors and securities companies, including customers using SET information. Mr. Pakorn received his Ph.D in Finance and Economics from Boston University, United States. His last post was at Mitr Phol Group. as Finance Senior Executive Vice President. He also has strong treasury experience from Siam Commercial Bank PCL. He has served as a member of the Asian Bond Fund – Thailand Monitoring Committee, Bank of Thailand.

Mr. Bordin will supervise Post-Trade Services & Development, overseeing post-trading system development, post-trading services, and focus on the needs of customers for all of post-trading services. Mr. Bordin earned his MBA from Western Michigan University, United States. He was Securities Business Division Executive Vice President, Bangkok Bank PCL. He was also in marketing at Siam City Cement PCL.
