Thai Bourse Announces SET Awards & Award Of Honor

Date 19/11/2010

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Money and Banking Magazine together organized the ceremony to award the SET Awards 2010 to 31 listed firms and the SET Award of Honor, which was given for the first time to five listed firms, i.e., The Bangchak Petroleum PCL (BCP), Kasikorn Bank PCL (KBANK), Kasikorn Securities Co., Ltd (KS), PTT Chemical PCL (PTTCH), and The Siam Cement PCL (SCC).

“The SET and Money and Banking Magazine together organized ‘SET Awards 2010’ at the event ‘SET in the City 2010’ at Royal Paragon Hall, fifth floor of Siam Paragon Department Store, Bangkok. Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij and SET Chairman Sompol Kiatphaibool together bestowed the awards. SET Awards ceremony was held for the seventh year to honor listed, securities, and asset management companies, including outstanding top executives and firms with outstanding corporate governance, investor relations, and social responsibilities. Moreover, this year is the first year we have had ‘SET Awards of Honor,’ which to honor listed firms which have achieved sustained excellence in the same category over at least three consecutive years,” revealed SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.

“This is a good opportunity for SET to congratulate those winning the awards and celebrate our 35th anniversary. Awarding these high honors enables us to show our deep appreciation to all in the Thai capital market who have fought together with us through numerous obstacles and cooperated to support our capital market and its economy,” said Mr. Charamporn.

“This year, the committee places particular focus on those who have continually had outstanding performance over three consecutive years, with the SET Awards of Honor.

When a firm or individual receives a SET Award of Honor in a given category, that category becomes open for others to receive SET Awards. This year, 53 companies were nominated for the awards. Of these, 31 firms won 35 SET Awards and 6 SET Awards of Honor,” said SET Award Distinguished Committee Chairman Panas Simasathira.

“The award ceremony and judging were the results of cooperation between many organizations to ensure fairness and transparency. The Distinguished Committee also assigned Tris Corporation Limited to assess the information for the SET Award of Honor and a special committee to consider the award in each particular category, i.e., the Corporate Governance Center, IR Club, and CSR committees of the SET,” said Editor-in-Chief, Money & Banking Magazine Santi Viriyarungsarit.
