Thai Bourse Announces Qualified Candidates For “SET Awards 2012”

Date 30/03/2012

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announces 460 listed companies, categorized into six groups, which are qualified to compete for “SET Awards 2012,” so that they can prepare themselves earlier to win about 35 awards in November.

The event is co-hosted by Money & Banking Magazine and will be held for the ninth consecutive year. This year’s awards have seven categories, consisting of the Best CEO, Best Company Performance, Top Corporate Governance Report, Best Investor Relations, Best Corporate Social Responsibility, Best Securities Company, and Best Asset Management Company Awards. There are the SET Awards of Honor as well for those who have repeatedly won in their category.

“TRIS Corporation, a well-known Thai rating agency, has a high level of expertise in award assessment, and now has listed companies which are qualified to compete in SET Awards 2012. For this year, there are 460 listed companies divided into six groups by market capitalization. Announcing the eligible contestants at an early stage will enable them to improve their performance along the lines that best benefit all stakeholders,” said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.

“So far, previous SET Awards winners have shown their developments in terms of quality and meeting other higher standards. In addition, TRIS, as SET Award assessor for the fifth straight year, has also helped make SET Awards widely recognized due to its independent, rigorous assessment,” Charamporn added.

Santi Viriyarungsarit, Editor-in-Chief of Money & Banking Magazine, the SET Awards co-host, said: “The distinguished judges of SET Awards remains very dedicated in selecting the winners. The selection process has been improved to make judgments clearer and more coherent. We hope listed companies, securities firms, and asset management companies will use the adjusted criteria to improve their operations and deliver more outstanding services, paving the way for them to be award winners.”

In selecting the winners for Best CEO, Best Investor Relations, Best Corporate Social Responsibility, and Best Securities Company, the judges select winners using many criterions. Inputs to measure contestants against these criterions come from many sources, including self-assessment questionnaires from candidates, in order to get a comprehensive picture of each contestant.
