The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announces that it will add a supervisory sign, “XB” (excluding other benefits), to inform investors that buying a stock carrying the XB sign will not be entitled to receive some benefits, effective from May 2, 2013, said SET Senior Vice President and Head of Market Operations, Chanisa Chutipat.
The stated benefits include subscription rights of 1) public offering, 2) preferred shares, 3) common shares allocated to preferred shareholders, 4) stocks, warrants, and transferable subscription rights (TSR) issued by a company’s subsidiary, or pre-emptive rights.
“To facilitate investors and ensure efficient trading, the XB sign will be posted three business days prior to the book closing date. Thus, investors who want to subscribe to the mentioned rights of a stock should buy the stock before the XB sign is placed,” Chanisa added.
Currently, SET’s supervisory signs and their implications are as follows:
XD (excluding dividend) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive dividends when the stock is trading ex-dividend.
XR (excluding right) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive rights to subscribe to newly-issued shares when the stock is trading ex-right.
XW (excluding warrant) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive rights to subscribe to warrants when the stock is trading ex-warrant.
XS (excluding short-term warrant) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive rights to subscribe to short-term warrants when the stock is trading ex-short-term warrant.
XT (excluding transferable subscription right) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive rights to subscribe for TSRs when the stock is trading ex-transferable subscription right.
XA (excluding all) – buyers of a stock will not be entitled to receive any offered rights granted on the same occasion when the stock is trading ex-all.
