- 2014 net profit up 15.87 pct y-o-y at THB 5.26 billion
- Resources, Industrial and Services as top three profit makers
Thai companies listed on Market for Alternative Investment (mai), under The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) group, reported the 2014 combined net profit of THB 5.26 billion (approx. USD 159.48 million), up THB 721 million or 15.87 percent from a year earlier. Resources, Industrial and Services were top three profit makers.
mai President Prapan Charoenprawatt said the aggregated profits came from 110 companies out of a total of 113 companies that filed their 2014 financial reports, of which 82 companies or about 75 percent made net profits. The combined sales were THB 120.25 billion (approximately USD 3.64 billion), up 8.42 percent from a year earlier. From a 7.53 percent rise of operating costs, total gross profit margin increased to 21.87 percent, while total net earnings reported THB 5.26 billion increase compared to THB 4.54 billion in 2013, up 15.87 percent.
“Overall performance of mai listed companies in 2014 showed continued growth, compared to a year earlier, especially companies in the alternative energy business which started to recognize their investment revenue. Classified by industry, firms in Resources, Consumer Products and Services reported higher profits than a year earlier. Of the total mai-listed firms, top five profit makers in terms of net profits, in descending order, were Energy Absolute pcl (EA) at THB 1,608 million, Thai Solar Energy pcl (TSE) at THB 581 million, J.S.P. Property pcl (JSP) at THB 487 million, Thai Brooker Group pcl (BROOK) at THB 256 million and E For L Aim pcl (EFORL) at THB 241 million,” Prapan added.
Five industry groups were top five profit makers in 2014 were Resources, Industrial, Services, Consumer Products and Financials, with a total net profit of THB 5.91 billion.
As of March 5, 2015, the mai index closed at 761.53 points, rising 8.78 percent since the beginning of this year, with a total market capitalization of THB 435.93 billion (USD 13.21 billion) and average trading value of about THB 5.8 billion per day.
