Telefonos de Mexico S.A. - Serie L Share Increase In The S&P Latin America 40 Indices

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P Latin America 40 Index effective after the close of trading on Friday, June 25, 2004. Telefonos de Mexico – Serie L (Mexico, SEDOL 2881689) shares will increase by 375,111,900 to 7,827,809,454. The company is updated the number of shares as result of the conversion of of debentures into L shares. Company additions to and deletions from an S&P equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company.
