The high-ranking delegation from Australian Embassy in Iran visited Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) on Sunday 31 May 2020 and rang the opening bell together with TSE’s top officials.
Ms. Lyndall Sachs, the honorable Australian Ambassador to Iran, accompanied with Ms. Kim Pang, the Embassy’s First Secretariat, paid a visit to TSE’s trading floor and after being briefed on Iran’s capital market, rang the opening bell of Sunday morning’s trading session. The ringing bell ceremony was conducted in the presence of some journalists and TSE’s CEO and deputies on 31 May 2020.
During the meeting, Ms. Sachs discussed potential areas of cooperation between Iran and Australia, emphasizing that Australia has a diverse economy which despite public image, it not only is limited to agricultural sector, but also education, services, tourism and mines are currently some of the active and productive sectors in the country’s economy. She said that Iran with an 83-million population would have enormous opportunities for investment and added that the Iranian students who have chosen Australian colleges and universities for their graduation and post-graduation programs are very diligent and brilliant and have shown a very good educational performance. She also expressed her delight to see Iranian women working along with men to run the businesses. In the end, she admired TSE’s recent developments and market boom, as well as the new building architecture; also, she hoped that by decreasing challenges for the two countries relations development and increasing participation and flexibility, both sides could take their active, mutual parts in the other market.
After talking about the company’s recent activities, Mr. Ali Sahraee, the CEO and president of Tehran Stock Exchange dealt with some details about TSE’s progress made in line with diversification and development of financial instruments and products, attraction of new stockholders and supporting them, conducting large enterprises privatization projects and justice shares. At the end of the meeting, he announced TSE’s preparedness to welcome foreign investors to participate in the Iranian capital market and hoped for expansion of further economic collaboration between the two countries.
