Tehran Bourse Reports Outperformance In Fiscal Year

The Iranian year of the report coverage started from the onset of Spring, 21 March 2022 to 20 March 2023.

 

During the one-year period, Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE)’s main index – TEDPIX – closed at 1,960,457 point, with over 43% gain annually.

TSE’s overall market capitalization also experienced circa 34% increase in the year, broken down into equities (33%), bonds (56%) and ETFs (50%). The total value of the market capitalization was IRR 74,230 trillion at the end of the period.

All securities’ total trading value in the last fiscal year exceeded IRR 15,300 trillion: equites (10,062), ETFs (4,544) and bonds (693). Also, more than 16 million contracts were traded in the Exchange’s derivatives market during the period.

Around 65% of all securities transactions were implemented via on-line trading mechanism.

More than 4,300 foreign investors are now registered in the securities market of Iran with their total assets’ value exceeding IRR 67,634 billion at the end of the year.

The largest sectors of TSE by market capitalization at the end of the period were Chemical Products (24%), Base Metals (17%), Metal Ores (9%), Holdings (8%) and Oil By-products (7%). There are currently 381 listed companies at TSE from 40 different sectors.

The direct investment instruments are complemented with 343 investment funds, including fixed-income, equities, as well as mixed types among others for the millions of investors in pursuit of indirect exposure to the market.
