Tamim Hamad Al-Kawari Appointed As A CEO Of Qatar Stock Exchange Replacing Mr. Rashid Bin Ali Al-Mansoori Who Will Retain His Position As A Member Of QSE’S Board Of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) issued a decision appointing Mr. Tamim Hamad Al-Kawari, as CEO of the Qatar Stock Exchange, to succeed Mr. Rashid bin Ali Al Mansoori.


Pursuant to the decision, Mr. Al-Kawari will assume the position of QSE’s CEO as of Monday, December 20, 2021, while the services of Mr. Al-Mansoori will be ended as will be referred to retirement due to reaching the legally defined standard retirement age. Mr. Al-Kawari and Mr. Al Mansoori will retain their positions as members of the Board of QSE.

On this occasion, Mr. Al-Mansoori expressed his congratulations to Mr. Al-Kawari for assuming the position of CEO of the Qatar Stock Exchange, wishing him success in his new mission and in achieving the goals for which the QSE was established. He also promised to continue his support to the Executive Management of QSE in its efforts to execute the major projects and achieve QSE’s strategic goals.

It should be noted that Mr. Tamim Hamad Al-Kawari previously was the CEO of QINVEST from 2012-2021. In addition to his role as CEO, Tamim serves as an independent board member in “Msheireb Properties” and “Qatar Stock Exchange”.

Prior to joining Qinvest, Tamim was an MD in Goldman Sachs and CEO of the Qatar Office, from 2007 to 2012. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Tamim was the Chief Financial Officer for Qatargas Transport Company, Nakilat, where he successfully implemented an US$ 8 billion program to finance 27 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels that ship LNG from Ras Laffan to customers worldwide.

Prior joining Nakilat, Tamim served as the treasurer for the Qatargas Company. Earlier in his career he also worked as a trader at Qatar National Bank, where he traded a range of financial products.

Tamim has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and executing transactions, having worked at a number of leading Qatari and international institutions.

Tamim holds a BA in International Business with a minor in Political Science from George Washington University and an MBA from the American University - Washington, D.C.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Al Mansoori has served as a Deputy CEO then a CEO of QSE for a round 10 years, during which the QSE has implemented several successful projects and made a lot of achievements including the upgrade of Qatar’s Market to an emerging market status by leading global indices, and the introduction of several important investment products and tools such as covered short selling, liquidity provision, margin trading and securities lending and borrowing. During this period, the QSE successfully executed various listings in the main and venture markets including two ETF’s and several new public and family companies.
