Since established in April 1998, the TAIFEX has been actively participated in the activities of the international organizations. In addition to the SFOA, the TAIFEX has granted the associate membership of the Futures Industry Association (FIA) and membership of the International Options Market Association (IOMA). TAIFEX has also become a signatory of the "International Information Sharing Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement" signed by over sixty international futures and options exchanges, clearing houses and associations.
The TAIFEX believes that the involvement in the international activities would be beneficial to the internationalization, product and market development of the Exchange.
The TAIFEX currently offers five futures and options contracts, namely, the Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index Futures (TAIEX Futures), the Taiwan Stock Exchange Electronic Sector Index Futures (TE Futures), the Taiwan Stock Exchange Financial Sector Index Futures (TF Futures), Mini-TAIEX Futures, and the TAIEX Options. The average daily trading volume of the TAIFEX for year 2001 reached 18,396 lots, which ranked the world's No. 29, and the percentage growth of the figure was 158.73%, as the world's No.3.
