The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) received a No-Action Letter from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) dated October 24, 2011, permitting the offer and sale in the US of a TAIFEX futures contract based on the GreTai Securities Market Capitalized Weighted Stock Index, a broad-based, free-float, market-capitalization-weighted composite index composed of highly capitalized and actively traded stocks listed on the GreTai Securities Market.
CFTC has examined the GreTai Securities Market Capitalized Weighted Stock Index Future and determined that it meets CFTC’s criteria for products being offered or sold in the US. CFTC therefore will not recommend any enforcement action if these futures are offered and sold in the US. Accordingly, US-registered futures commission merchants (FCMs) are now permitted to accept orders for this product.
TAIFEX has also been granted No-Action Letters for its TAIEX Futures, Mini-TAIEX Futures, Electronic Sector Index Futures, Finance Sector IndexFutures and Non-Finance Non-Electronics Sub-Index Futures products.
