Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX) and Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) today announced the launch of a joint educational project as the first step for their collaboration plan based on the MoU signed in April 2007.
TFEX and TAIFEX plan to hold a three-day seminar with the support from Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), the most prominent training institute in Thailand. The joint seminar is scheduled to be held from June 4-6, 2007 in Bangkok in preparation for the launch of TFEX index options. The seminar is aimed to provide a comprehensive insight into the trading of index options in Taiwan, including the uses and applications of index options and how Taiwanese professionals and investors utilize such products to manage their risk and make profits. It also highlights the key success factors and risk issues in the perspectives of Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs).
Ms. Kesara Manchusree, TFEX ‘s Managing Director, said ” We think this seminar will be very beneficial to the futures industry in Thailand as practitioners will have the opportunity to learn from Taiwan’s success and apply such experience in promoting index options products for the Thai community.”
Mr. Steve C. Wang, President of TAIFEX added that, “We are pleased to have this opportunity to share our views and experience to the market participants and the exchange staff in Thailand. This is the beginning of mutual cooperation between the two exchanges. We will surely expect more and further cooperation coming in the near future. I certainly believe that the knowledge-sharing activities between TFEX and TAIFEX will benefit each other.”
