Syariah Day At KLSE Investors' Week 2002 Promotes Islamic Based Investments

Market demand for Syariah based investment products is on the rise with more investors showing keen interest in these products.

Deputy President, Strategy and Development of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) Abdul Hamid Sh. Mohamed said KLSE is committed to assist in the development of the Islamic Capital Market in line with the objectives of the Capital Market Masterplan.

"In conjunction with the KLSE Investors' Week 2002, KLSE has designated Friday, 27 September 2002 as Syariah Day. Briefings on that day will cover a wide range of topics relating to Syariah-based investments," he said.

Experts in Syariah investment will be sharing their insights on Syariah based investments in discussing topics such as Investment -The Need To Purify Returns, Fundamentals of Islamic Investment, Women & Investment, Faraidh-Its Importance to Muslim Life and The Stockmarket - Gambling or Investment? The talks will be conducted in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Abdul Hamid said Syariah Day at KLSE Investors' Week 2002 will provide an excellent opportunity for investors, particularly bumiputera investors, to expand their knowledge on syariah investments.

"Syariah Day at KLSE Investors' Week will also provide investors with the opportunity to address their concerns and broaden understanding on the application of Syariah principles on investments," he added.

To add interest and colour to Syariah day, calligraphy experts from Persatuan Seni Khat Kebangsaan will also be conducting a Khat demonstration and display. Rare Khat pieces can also be purchased at special prices only during that day.

There will be two paying programmes during KLSE Investors' Week 2002 on Saturday and Sunday, 28 to 29 September 2002 - the Financial Planning Workshop and the Art and Creative Workshop.
