Swedish Nordnet Bank AB Applies For Warsaw Stock Exchange Membership

Date 20/06/2007

On June 18, Nordnet Bank AB, a Swedish credit institution, submitted an application for admission to operate on the Warsaw Stock Exchange as an exchange member. The applicant intends to trade on the WSE all financial instruments on its own account and on the client’s account.

Nordnet Bank AB is one of the biggest brokers operating on the Scandinavian market. The broker is a member of the Nordic Exchange OMX (all markets), Deutsche Börse Group (XETRA) and Nordic Growth Market. Nordnet Bank’s brokers offer the Bank’s clients access to other stock exchanges.

Thirteen remote members from Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden and Estonia operate on the WSE at present. Glitnir AB (formerly Fischer Partners Fondkommission AB) was the first Swedish remote member on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Remote membership allows international brokers to access the WSE system directly, which eliminates the necessity of their presence in Poland or use of local intermediaries.
