Suspension Of Trading For Tokyo Grain Exchange Options Contracts

Date 18/12/2006

Subject to the decision of 20th Board of Director’s meeting held on December 15, 2006, the Tokyo Grain Exchange (TGE) will suspend trading on all current and forward contract months for options on soybean, corn and raw sugar futures contracts.

The Exchange requests today that all members refrain voluntarily from placing any orders for trade on all existing soybean and raw sugar option contract months as well as on the July, September and November 2007 contract months for corn options. Trading will be suspending for these contract months effective January 4, 2007. The March and May 2007 corn futures option contract months will continue to trade normally until expiration. The Exchange will suspend trading on corn options from March 1, 2007.

The Exchange will determine when to resume options trading based on the progress of implementation and operation of continuous (zaraba) trading as well as the trading conditions of rice futures, both of which TGE plans to launch in the future.
