Subject to the decision of 5th Board of Director’s meeting held on September 14, 2007, the Tokyo Grain Exchange (TGE) will not extend the designated time limit of October 11 for the trial listing of soybean meal futures. As of September 12, 2008, TGE will delist soybean meal futures which is the last trading day for the September 2008 contract.
The Exchange will not list any new contract months on and after November 15, 2007. TGE has requested all members to refrain from placing any new orders on all remaining soybean meal futures contract month. As all existing positions of soybean meal futures are offset (reduced to zero), TGE will suspend trading on all current and forward months for soybean meal futures contract on and after October 12, 2007.
The Exchange, in consideration of the constant need of risk management tool of soybean meal by commercials such as importers and feed processors, will review the contract design of the soybean meal futures contract with the Feedstuff Committee and reapply for permission to launch the contract to the competent minister at a time when we have the project that sufficient trading volume can be assured in order to carry out its futures trading.
