Summary Of October 2009 Activities At Tokyo Commodity Exchange

Tokyo Commodity Exchange today announced that October trading volume averaged 107,853 contracts per day, up 3.7 percent from September 2009, down 38.7 percent from October 2008. During the month, many of the listed commodities increased in price and some reached their highest prices for the year. As the prices have gone up, trading volumes also increased. Monthly average daily volume per product was as follows:

  • Gold: 50,408 contracts, up 15.0% from September 2009, down 19.5% from October 2008
  • Silver: 536 contracts, up 29% from September 2009, down 36.6% from September 2008
  • Crude Oil: 2,844 contracts, up 12.6? from September 2009, up 7.6% from September 2008
  • Kerosene: 4,558 contracts, up 34.2% from September, down 5.9% from September 2008
  • Rubber: 11,361 contracts, down 28.3? from September 2009, down 57.4% from September 2008
