The IPO consisted of a total of 47,640,017 shares, with EUR 595 million raised. Based on the offer price set for the opening – EUR 26,50 € per share –, the market capitalisation of Elia reached EUR 1.26 billion.
Elia is Euronext’s 18th listing in 2005 and the 5th listing on Euronext Brussels. Since January, new listings on Euronext markets represented an additional EUR 10,5 billion in market capitalisation, with EUR 2,7 billion raised.
Elia is Belgium’s electricity transmission grid operator, serving as the key link between electricity supply and demand. The company transmits electricity over its high-voltage network from generators to large industrial consumers as well as to distributors, which in turn feed Belgian households and businesses. Elia owns almost the totality of the Belgian high-voltage network.
