In order to deepen the cooperation and integration between mainland and Macao gold market, and better play the role of gold market in serving the national strategy, Shanghai Gold Exchange (hereinafter referred to as "SGE"), Bank of China Shanghai Head Office, Bank of China Macao Branch (hereinafter referred to as "BOC Macao") and Macao Goldsmiths’ Guild jointly held the "Shanghai-Macao Gold Road" seminar on September 3rd in Macao.
The seminar was held in form of "overseas onsite + live streaming" for the first time, which is a proactive approach for SGE international business promotion in the post-pandemic era. Huang Shanwen, member of the Administrative Committee of Monetary Authority of Macao, delegate from Economic Bureau of Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, as well as representatives from Macao gold industry attended the seminar.
During the seminar, SGEI, BOC Shanghai Head Office and BOC Macao introduced the international board and the business model of “Shanghai-Macao Gold Road” project respectively. Shenzhen CuiLu JinYe, a member of SGE, on behalf of the real economy enterprises, shared its own thoughts and exploration of participating in the "Gold Road" project. Other attendees deeply exchanged understandings of relevant issues and expressed enthusiasm to get involved in the "Gold Road" project.
“Shanghai-Macao Gold Road” is an innovative project jointly launched by SGE and Bank of China in January 2020, in order to implement the CPC Central Committee’s general plan on establishing China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Financial Service platform, and accelerate integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Under this project, Macao clients can directly open special settlement accounts in Macao to trade on SGE through the international board. This breakthrough will promote the connection of mainland gold industry and Macao market so as to create a new path of joint development between Macao and the mainland in form of internationalized gold market.
