Once again, the ETPD Zurich featured many high-caliber speakers and insightful roundtable discussions. Already organized for the ninth time by SIX Swiss Exchange und SIX Structured Products Exchange Ltd, the event for professional investors was attended by close to 250 people.
Welcome speech by André Buck, Head Sales SIX Swiss Exchange
The thematic spectrum covered current product innovations and investment ideas in the universe of exchange traded financial instruments such as ETFs and Structured Products, which were assessed by knowledgeable representatives of the financial community. This allowed attendees to benefit from first-hand expert knowledge which they could deepen in discussions at 14 booths of product providers, during the breaks as well as at the lunch and the closing networking apéro.
Economic Roundtable and Outlook 2020
The Economic Roundtable featured Christian Gattiker (Chief Strategist and Head of Research, Bank Julius Bär & Co. AG), Martin Neff (Chief Economist, Raiffeisen Switzerland) and Thomas Steinemann (Chief Investment Officer, Privatbank Bellerive AG), who, led by Martin Spieler (Economic Journalist, Tamedia AG), discussed the impact of a potential Brexit for Great Britain and Switzerland, the crisis in Greece, the current economic situation in the US with regards to the upcoming presidential elections as well as emerging economies and commodities.
Keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Klaus W. Wellershoff
Finally, Prof. Dr. Klaus W. Wellershoff held his keynote speech, "Outlook 2020", in which he presented several theses on trend growth rates, macroeconomic forecasts for China and industrialized countries, trends in interest rates, inflation and the development of currencies, in particular EUR/CHF. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Klaus W. Wellershoff talked about current challenges for asset management in various asset classes.
