Date 20/11/2009

The PLUS stock exchange today announced reported flow reached more than 11 billion shares traded in October, a 238 per cent increase on October 2008. Last month was the second full month of PLUS facilitating AIM share trading on its exchange. PLUS volumes have more than doubled since June/July.

PLUS, a core market for retail investors trading the whole range of stocks from small and mid-caps to large-cap securities, has attracted a huge increase in volumes since it began trading all the AIM stocks during late August this year. And for the second month in a row, the exchange captured the majority of flow in over 300* AIM stocks.

Cyril Therét, Business Development Director, comments: “The retail segment continues to play its part in the UK equity markets as seen in the significant volumes on our exchange, which has been enjoying strong support from retail participants. There are over 12 million** people in the UK who invest directly in shares and it appears they are becoming more active as values rise. An increasing proportion of this flow is being transacted on PLUS, enhancing the appeal of PLUS market data.”
