STOXX Ltd. To Expand Its Index Universe - Iceland, Bulgaria And Romania Added To The Pan-European Indexes

STOXX Ltd., the leading European index provider, today announced that effective January 1, 2007 three countries will be added to the pan-European Dow Jones STOXX Index series.

Iceland will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index and its subindexes, such as the Dow Jones STOXX NORDIC Total Market Index. The Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index measures the performance of stocks in 17 developed European countries. Bulgaria and Romania will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index. The index measures the performance of stocks in the 10 countries that joined the European Union on May 1, 2004. Bulgaria and Romania will be admitted to the European Union in January 2007.

“The addition of Iceland, Bulgaria and Romania to the Dow Jones STOXX index universe is a reflection of the current market situation and is thus a logical move to better respond to the needs of retail and professional investors worldwide,” said Lars Hamich, managing director of STOXX Ltd. “This further expansion of the Dow Jones STOXX index universe gives investors a broader access to new markets”.

Adding Iceland to the Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index brings the number of countries included in the index to 18. The following eight companies will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index: Actavis Group HF (ACT), Bakkavor Group HF (BAKK), Exista HF (EXISTA), FL Group HF (FL), Glitnir Banki HF (GLB), Kaupthing Bank (KAUP), Landsbanki Islands (LAIS) and Straumur-Burdaras (STRB). The eight Icelandic stocks represent 88.6% of the free-float market capitalization of all public companies that are traded in Iceland.

Icelandic stocks will be eligible for inclusion in the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Index and its respective subindexes during the quarterly review of Q1 2007.

Adding Bulgaria and Romania to the Dow Jones EU Enlarged Total Market Index increases the number of countries included in the index to 12. The following five Bulgarian companies will be added and count for 66.8% of the free-float market capitalization of all stocks listed at the Bulgarian stock exchange: Albena AD (ALB), Bulgarian Telekom (BTC), Industrial Holding Bulgaria (IHLBL), Petrol (PET) and Sopharma AD (SFARM).

The following 11 Romanian companies that will be added to the Dow Jones EU Enlarged Total Market Index reflect 95.8% of the free-float market capitalization of the companies listed in Romania: Antibiotice IASI (ATB), Banca Comerciala Carpati (BCC), Banca Transilvania (TLV), Biofarm Bucuresti (BIO), BRD Groupe Société Générale (BRD), Impact (IMP), Rompetrol Rafinare SA (RRC), SNP Petrom SA (SNP), Transelectrica SA (TEL), Turbomecanica SA (TBM) and Zentiva SA (SCD).

The addition of the new Icelandic companies will increase the free-float market capitalization of the Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index to 7 226 027,75 million Euro from 7 211 722,51 million Euro. The addition of the Bulgarian and Romanian companies to the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index will increase the index’s free-float market capitalization to 96 389,11 million Euro from 90 528,85 million Euro.
