STOXX Licenses STOXX Global 1800 Travel & Leisure Index To Daiwa Securities

Date 18/12/2014

STOXX Limited, a leading provider of innovative, tradable and global index concepts, has licensed the STOXX Global 1800 Travel & Leisure Index to Japan’s Daiwa Asset Management Co. Ltd. for an active, non-listed mutual fund. Daiwa licensed the USD gross return version of the index.

“We are seeing more success in Asia, particularly Japan, where this deal represents our fourth license this year,” said Hartmut Graf, chief executive officer, STOXX Limited. “Investor interest in sector indices is rising, and we provide a variety of sector indices globally and for many regions of the world.”

The STOXX Global 1800 Travel & Leisure Index is derived from the STOXX Global 1800 Index and offers market participants access to companies in the index. STOXX Sector indices use ICB – Industry Classification Benchmark – nomenclature to categorize companies according to their primary source of revenue. The categorization guarantees a professional and accurate classification of companies in their respective business environments. There are four levels of classification: 10 industries are broken down into 19 supersectors, 41 sectors and 114 subsectors.

The STOXX Global 1800 Travel & Leisure Index is weighted by free-float market cap. It is calculated in price, net and gross return versions and is available in EUR and USD. The index is reviewed on a quarterly basis and components are not subject to component weight restrictions and capping.
