STOXX Further Strengthens Its Position As The Leading European Index Provider

Date 10/05/2007

2006 has been a year of significant growth for exchange traded funds (ETFs) - both in numbers of ETFs and assets under management. The first four months of 2007 have already shown that this trend continues.

Since December 31, 2005 STOXX Ltd., the leading European index provider, has licensed 47 ETFs in Europe bringing the number of ETFs based on Dow Jones STOXX Indexes in Europe to 106 as of the end of April 2007. More than a third of all new ETFs launched in Europe in this time period are linked to Dow Jones STOXX Indexes.

Assets under management in ETFs based on Dow Jones STOXX Indexes have grown 47% from 16.8bn EUR as of December 31, 2005 to 24.7bn EUR as of April 27, 2007.

With 12 ETFs listed at all the major Europeans stock exchanges, the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50 Index is the leading index in terms of number of products and assets under management. Nevertheless, the growth of the European ETF market is also associated with further diversification and index innovation. ETFs based on the Dow Jones STOXX Supersector Indexes and the Dow Jones STOXX Select Dividend Indexes have seen strong interest. Significant outperformance of these indexes has boosted this trend even more. Over one year, the Dow Jones EURO STOXX Select Dividend 30 Index, for instance, has outperformed the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50 Index by 12% as of April 30, 2007.
