One of the primary objectives of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange is to support the listed companies' efforts to improve the communication of information to the stock market, thus making the information available to private investors on a par with that available to professional market participants.
The Copenhagen Stock Exchange and Nordisk Film have thus established a partnership, which was presented at today's joint press conference, which was also transmitted at the Exchange's web site www.xcse.dk on the Internet.
It is the ambition to make it attractive for the Danish listed companies to communicate their messages via web-based video. Depending on the level of ambition, the investment in a video transmission need not be costlier than an advertisement in three daily newspapers. Relatively simple equipment is required to shoot an event - e.g. in connection with the presentation of accounts, a general meeting or investor meetings.
The webcasts are accessible at www.StockWise.tv (which will be available in a short while) and at the Exchange's homepage www.xcse.dk. It will be possible for viewers/investors and the company to engage in a collaborative online communication experience. StockWise.tv has potential as a valuable interactive communication service for the listed companies and the investors.
Commenting on the partnership, Hans-Ole Jochumsen said: "We wish to strengthen the Danish share investment culture. Using the new technologies and tools sensibly, the Exchange may help ensuring a more efficient stock market for the benefit of the listed companies as well as the sharply rising number of investors."
The role of Nordisk Film in the partnership is to ensure professionalism via production and advisory services. The company offers to shoot, edit and broadcast features on the Internet as well as other services such as media training. Nordisk Film TV, which has produced a variety of well-known movies and TV programmes, sees the co-operation as the first important step towards a digital world, where not only TV transmits moving pictures.
"Web TV is only interesting if it has a topical and important content. A demanding target group tracks the Exchange's homepage carefully and we look forward to introducing tailor-made solutions to this group. We expect the combination of relevant news and our experience in the development of ideas and production of classical TV programmes to give a good basis for producing web TV to other genres, countries and media. In a short while, live moving pictures will also be accessible via cellular phones, palmtop computers etc. The challenge for us is to be present in all media with relevant information and entertainment", says Jesper Klit, Managing Director of Nordisk Film TV.
