The turnover rate during October was 158 % (October 2000: 126 %). This is the highest turnover velocity for a single month in the exchange history.
Derivative trading
Average derivative trading turnover (Swedish share and interest-rate related contracts) amounted during October to 267 863 contracts (October 2000: 246 910) per business day, which is an increase of 8.5 %. The average derivative trading turnover during the past 12-month period has been 240 089 contracts per business day. The average number of share-related derivative products amounted to 245 779 contracts (October 2000: 228 255) per business day, while the average number of interest-rate related derivative products amounted to 22 084 contracts (October 2000: 18 655) per business day.
Index developments
The OMX index increased during October by 5.5 % and closed on 741.9 % (30 September 2001: 703.2). The Benchmark index closed on 237.9 as of 31 October (30 September 2001: 223.7), which is an increase of 6.4 %. The SX All-share index (the SAX index) closed on 210.2 (30 September 2001: 197.1), which corresponds to an increase of 6.7 % during the month.
The Information Technology Index increased most during the month and closed on 287.6 (30 September 2001: 239.8), which is an increase of 19.9 %. The Healthcare Index increased the least during the month and closed on 214.9 (30 September 2001: 214.8), which is an increase of 0.1 %.
Listed companies
During October, 3 companies have been unlisted from the O-list. A total of 2 new companies have been registered on the A-list during the year, and 19 new companies have been listed on the O-list while, at the same time, 13 companies have been deregistered from the A-list and 12 companies unlisted from the O-list. The number of listed companies on Stockholmsbörsen amounts to 307, of which 72 are listed on the A-list and 235 on the O-list. Total market value for the companies on the A-list amounts to SEK 2 070 billion, and on the O-list to SEK 447 billion. Total market value thereby amounted to SEK 2 517 billion as of 31 October 2001.
