Stock Exchange Of Thailand With Brokers To Provide Education In Stock Trading At Rayong On Nov. 23

Date 21/11/2002

The value of stock investment in the four eastern provinces (Chantaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, and Trat) during the first nine months of 2002 topped 70 billion baht, demonstrating a high level of interest amongst investors in this region. The SET is ready to provide education in stock trading in collaboration with brokerage firms on 23 November at the Star Plaza Hotel in Rayong for free!

The Chairman of Capital Market Opportunity Center (CMOC), Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, disclosed that the level of investment by investors in the East, comprising Chantaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, and Trat, in the first nine months of this year (January - September) totaled 71,129.85 million baht, which is a significant increase on the total for the whole last year of 59,182.67 million baht.

"Despite the fact that that there are only four of them, interest in investment in these eastern provinces has been increasing. Presently there are nineteen broker branches offering securities trading services, particularly in Chonburi where there are thirteen offices, while there are only three, two and one in Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat respectively. Hence, the opportunities for expansion in this region are tremendous."

Thus, on Saturday November 23, the SET, in collaboration with the Rayong Chamber of Commerce, the Banking Club of Rayong, and the Rayong Federation of Industries, has invited approximately twenty organizations to provide education for investors in the East at the first "Stock Exchange Roadshow" in Rayong, at the Star plaza Hotel, from 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. There will be educational seminars, booths and exhibitions, plus the Investment Simulation Game available without charge but with the chance to win many prizes and receive a free handbook on investment," Ms. Sopawadee said.

Participants will have a chance to test their investment knowledge by playing the Investment Simulation Game that has proved very popular at previous Roadshows. The Investment Simulation Game will last from 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. and is open to people regardless of age or gender. Players will practice sending trading orders, and thereby discover that stock investment is not as difficult as they thought. They will also have a chance to win cash prizes for the winner and runners up worth 8,000 baht, 5,000 baht, and 3,000 baht respectively. Ms. Sopawadee also added: "Seminars will include "Focusing on Stock with High Profits in Q4 2002", "Preparing for the retired life without any Tax Worries", and "Investment Strategies for 2003" This session will be moderated by Mr. Teerat Ratanasevi, a host of the "Investor Guide" Program on ITV. As well, investment handbooks will be distributed free to all audience members, which will help investors do their financial planning and to trade securities."

For the reservation of seats at this seminar and participation in the Investment Simulation Game, please contact the Chamber of Commerce in Rayong at Tel: 0-3861-6414. Admission is free of charge!
