Stock Exchange Of Thailand Trading Value And Volume In Q1 2002 Increase By 40% From 2000

Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, Managing Director of the Capital Market Opportunity Center (CMOC), in announcing the trading turnover on both the SET and the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) noted that, "In the first quarter of 2002 (Jan.-Mar. 2002), the trading turnover on the SET reached 741,228.19 million baht, an increase of 43.64% on the 225,183.49 million baht of the same period last year. At the same time, the SET Index closed at 373.95 points, up by 82.1 (28.09%) compared to 291.94 points on March 31st, 2001. Average daily trading turnover in the first quarter was 11,955.29 million baht, a rise from 8,323.30 million baht in the first quarter of 2001. Total market capitalization at the end of Q1 2002 was 1,979,202 million baht, soaring by 40.49% compared with the same period in 2001, which only recorded 1,408,792.9 million baht.

The value of the SET's total trading turnover in March 2002 was 225,930.72 million baht, down 9.92% or by 24,878.66 million baht from February. 34,787.72 million shares in total were traded.

The most actively traded securities in Q1 2002 were those of Adkinson Securities Public Co., Ltd, while the derivative warrants of Siam Commercial Bank Public Co., Ltd. were the most active in March 2002.

For turnover on the MAI, Q1 2002 (Jan.-Mar. 2002) trading value totaled 338.41 million baht, with 110.03 million shares traded. Chuo Senko (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd. was the most actively traded stock in the first quarter. The value of trading turnover on the MAI in March 2002 alone was recorded at 96.68 million baht, with 40.46 million shares traded. Team Precision Public Co., Ltd was the most actively traded stock on the MAI in March.
