The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has begun its annual big investment festival “SET in the City” in Bangkok, under the concept “Your Investment Vision: Your accessible investment world,” attracting executives from all the capital market’s organizations joining in the event.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong presided over the event and delivered the keynote speech on “The Thai capital market under global financial liberalization,” saying due to continuous changes, the key obligation of the capital market was to meet the expectations of all involved -- not only those who were directly involved, such as listed companies, broker members, government, and investors – but also those who were indirectly involved, which is the general public. This is the capital market’s challenge which we shall successfully meet by working together as a team. A capital market consisting of equity, fixed income, and derivatives helps create balance for the country and works effectively with its financial market.
SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira, said: “SET in the City 2012 is an investment festival attracting savers and investors as it focuses on providing knowledge involving innovation, investment tools, investment information, and all type of investment services to investors. This event originates from supports of all involved units, i.e. government, private sector, associations, and companies. They all help driving the Thai capital market to grow together with Thai economy and society and become the key workforce to impel of the country economy with efficiency.
The festival, held for the eighth time, aims to centralize modern and full-range financial products and investment services with government and private sectors for 100 units joining to set their booths to present information and give advice for investment management.
