"The SET considers that supporting the AFET will promote the development of new financial instruments, and hence the country's economy. Mr. Punsak Vejanurug, SET Executive Vice President, therefore was assigned to be a member of the AFET's Board from August 2002. Mr. Punsak has been asked to be AFET's President replacing the former president, who resigned, and is authorized to slot a supporting team.
The SET has approved Mr. Punsak and a team of 10 personnel from the Financial Instruments Market Project and other related departments to work to support the AFET starting in September 2003. This will be a personnel loan on a temporary basis. Whenever the AFET's mission is completed, they will return to the SET and resume their work. Nevertheless, the SET will continue to implement the policy regarding investor education that Mr. Punsak is responsible for at the Exchange," Mr. Kittiratt said.
