Date 04/12/2001

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) President, Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, disclosed that SET securities trading in November recorded a total market turnover of 18,369.38 million shares in volume and 120,578.87 million baht in value, increased by 52,575.33 million baht from October or 77.31%. The SET Index closed on November 30 at 302.62, up by 27.53 points or 10.01 % from the previous month, and having Internet Thailand Public Co Ltd (INET) as the most active stock.

For MAI securities trading in October, total three securities recorded a total market turnover of 930.61 million baht in value and 350.55 million shares in volume.

"One contributing factor to 77% higher trading value than in October is that there were three IPOs successfully launched into the market: two of which were privatized SOEs, Internet Thailand Plc and PTT Plc, and AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) Plc. Not only that they are fundamentally sound, their listings help increase the supply of products in the market and psychologically bring back a more active investment climate."

"Moreover, the 9-month operational results of the listed companies were generally improved. Listed companies in the industrial and service sectors recorded total net profits of 72 billion baht, which is higher than the same period last year. This was reflected by the bottom line of the listed companies and a positive sign of the economic recovery." Mr Kittiratt said.
