Stock Exchange Of Thailand Creates The Capital Market Education Division To Help Build A Greater Understanding Of Finance And Investment Amongst All Target Groups

The President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) disclosed that the SET has reorganized itself into six divisions specifically the Capital Market Opportunity Center (CMOC) and the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI), the Capital Market Education Division, the Information Technology Division, the Market Regulation Division, the Corporate Operations Division, and the Research and Information Division. The reshuffle has been undertaken to keep the operation in line with the SET's vision that focuses on market-wide education, the dissemination of complete, accurate, and timely information, as well as on a quality, swift, and efficient operation. The SET's new organizational structure will be effective from 1 February 2004 onwards.

"The SET has created the new Capital Market Education Division, splitting it out from the CMOC and MAI. The new division will have Mr. Punsak Vejanurug as the division head. This division will be responsible for creating a better understanding of finance and investment amongst all target groups starting with students in junior high school, senior high schools and colleges, in addition to practitioners, and investors. The Capital Market Education Division will work in close collaboration with educational institutes and various organizations so as to expand the SET's education network to cover all groups. The CMOC and MAI will have Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai as the division head.

The Corporate Operations Division will have Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai, the SET's Executive Vice President, as its division head working as the SET's Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Suthichai Chitvanich, the SET's Executive Vice President, will be the head of the Market Regulation Division, while Mr. Chaiyoot Chamnanlertkit will be appointed the head of the Information Technology Division.

The Research and Information Division is a newly established division to be responsible for managing the SET's information system to assure its greater efficiency. The SET President will oversee this division during its early stage," Mr. Kittiratt said.
